The Happy Days.....

The four days of Durga Puja has always been the happiest days in the year. Though miles away from my maternal home, I still feel tangled in the same festive mood.

Tried to create the same atmosphere at home in bangalore. I like the rich bronze and orange contrast here.....it was not intended, it just happened.

This festive season my color is Red.

Red is my favorite color since childhood. Yes, childhood brings back memories of my red checked skirt, red umbrella, red sweater (self knitted)... the list is endless. Infact I was called Red once upon a time, not that the world knew Red was my favorite. I worked in this place where everybody was called by their initials. My maiden name was Reema Das.  At work there was already somebody called RD, so I had to be ReD, which finally became Red, and seriourly I loved this name and as I write I find my lips twitching with a smile.

Red is an integral part of Indian festivities....the Red saree that Ma Durga wears, the sidhur (sindoor) khela which all married bengali women participate on the final day of Durga Puja, the red jaba phool (hibiscus flowers) which symbolizes Ma Kali...etc. So this festive season I decided to color my home red. Here are some pictures from my home.
